Secretary of State Candidate Comes to Traverse City

On Thursday, October 19th, Secretary of State candidate Jocelyn Benson visited Traverse City for a meet and greet with the public. Benson’s visit comes just a few days after the announcement of her candidacy, making Traverse City one of her very first stops. One of the issues Benson is running on is a 30 minute guarantee at the Secretary of State. She hopes to establish the policy everywhere in Michigan, no matter how rural or urban the area might be. Benson is the CEO of Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality, she is a cofounder of the Military Spouses of Michigan, the former dean of the Wayne State University Law School, a board member of the Southern Poverty Law Center, and she was the Democratic Party nominee for Secretary of State in 2010.
